►►ZOOM in on... Smart Fortwo Electric Drive: an electric city car made in Moselle

It is made « for two » and doesn’t emit any pollutant. The ED Smart, currently under development on the Smartville site in Hambach, is exclusively electric. 1,000 vehicles are presently being tested in Europe and the United States. The battery can be recharged within 3 hours from a simple household electrical outlet. Smart plans the installation of charging stations in cities, detectable by geolocation devices (GSM). Mass production will start by 2012 with the creation of 52 direct and indirect jobs.

►►ZOOM in on... PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN, an engine developed and manufactured on the Trémery site

PSA PEUGEOT CITROËN has two production sites in Moselle:  Trémery  and Metz. PSA is about to anticipate the new environmental standard Euro 6 of 2014 in bringing on the market its new 3-cylinder petrol engine, developed and manufactured on the Trémery site. City cars equipped with this engine emit less than 100 g of CO2 per kilometer, without any additional technology (type Stop&Start). PSA Peugeot Citroën justifies the choice of the Trémery site by the long industrial tradition of the Lorraine region, its highly skilled workers, known for their professionalism and rigor. Some 255 million Euros have been invested in this innovative project and manufacturing will mobilize a total of 500 employees.
