►► ZOOM on... NEUHAUSER Company in Folschviller

The NEUHAUSER industrial bakery group continues its expansion with the takeover of SICARD Company, situated in the Western France Vendée region and specializing in the production of bread and brioche. NEUHAUSER has invested 20 million Euros, thus increasing its total production surface from 4,000 to 6,300 m² and recruiting 50 persons for the production of pre-baked bread. The small family bakery created in 1906 has become a huge industrial group with 16 production sites in France and Portugal and a total of 2,500 employees. NEUHAUSER produces 300 million French loafs and more than one billion pastries, representing an annual turnover of about 400 million Euros in 2010.

  MALTEUROP
The Metz malt house was taken over in the 80ies by the MALTEUROP group. Since then, MALTEUROP has become the world leader in the malt production sector with 2.2 million tons produced every year.

SENOBLE
SENOBLE dairy producer is also located in the Moselle. The company supplies McDonald’s restaurants with organic farming yogurt.

COMPAGNIE DES FROMAGES ET RICHESMONTS in Benestroff
Production of 10,000 tons/annum of a big variety of cheese products (Munster, Bbrie, Tourrée, Tartiflette, ...) in various shapes (oval, square, round). 186 employees.  

 GEYER FRERES (65 employees): production of LORINA lemonade in Munster, in the Moselle de la limonade LORINA à Munster en Moselle 

  more than 5 million bottles produced every year.

  35 % of turnover from exports, especially to the United States and Asia.
Extension of 6,300 m2 in 2010.

20 million bottles are sold every year on the four continents. Among its customers, there are seven of the ten biggest global distributors. In France, LORINA lemonade is sold in TGV high speed trains and in 1,100 McDonald's restaurants.

The Lorraine Region is situated next to Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium, that means in the heart of a basin of 90 million consumers within a radius of 300 km. 43 % of GVA at current prices are generated in the Greater Region for the agriculture, forestry and fishing sectors.

A DEPARTMENT AT THE FOREFRONT OF FOOD QUALITY AND SAFETY

IPL Health laboratories depending on the Paris Pasteur Institute (IPL) are located in Saint-Julien-lès-Metz, Epinal and Maxéville. They are in charge of:
Sanitary control of drinking water/ food chemistry and microbiology / detection, identification and enumeration of legionella / food safety, bacteriological monitoring of animal products / search for BSE prion / serological analysis in the animal health field.

MICROPOLLUANTS TECHNOLOGIES in Saint-Julien-lès-Metz :
Analysis of organic and inorganic pollutants in the environmental and food industry sector.  

 

MOSELLE WINES HAVE OBTAINED THE AOC (GUARANTEE OF QUALITY) QUALITY LABEL

In November 2010, Moselle wines obtained the AOC quality label (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée), as a reward for a collective effort of 26 winegrowers. The vineyards concerned by this label cover a total surface of 54 hectares of clay and limestone soils, producing 315,000 hl of quality guaranteed wine. Production breaks down as follows: 55 % of white wine, 30 % of rosé and 15 % of red wine. There are also different varieties of wine: 30 % of Auxerrois, 30 % of Pinot Noir, 15 % of Pinot Gris and 8 % of Müller-Thurgau, as well as Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Gamay and Pinot Blanc.
